How do I know if I am on the right path, or if I just have a spiritual ego?
True spirituality isn't shared with anyone else. You can't get excited about it. There is no one to learn from. No information can help you reach what you seek. No education. No knowledge. No system. No desire to achieve and be better because of it.
Do you really want to be free? I'm not so sure.
If I told you, to be free you must reject your family and friends. Cut off from society. Be meek in your requirements and not identify with any possessions or groups of people, in other words, die to the world and its system, would you be able to do it?
This state doesn't last forever. Only when you give up desire will you confronted by your ego. When you've seen it, you'll know what must change.
You would be undoing your controllers "de-individuation" which you have been put through by force as a child, at a time where you are incapable of defending yourself.
This IS the descent of each individual. Ascent can only happen when you let go of illusions. They are heavier than real objects to the soul.
