Abstaining

When we see the word Abstain in a religious context, we assume sex, alcohol, greed, and so on. It is actually referring to everything except eating a reduced amount, sleeping, and going to the toilet. That includes taking in knowledge.

Abstaining becomes self-sustaining after a point of realization is reached. You notice what knowledge is and does.

Knowledge
After reading my fifth philosophical (/science/religious) work, The Secret Doctrine by Helena P. Blavatsky, I noticed these different perspectives give the reader of such works the opportunity to notice that the mind can take on these points of view to build a better view of 'what is'. At least in the egotistical context.

At that moment, I realized that all the knowledge I had consumed over the previous five years would have to be transcended psychologically to just leave the act of fasting. These recommendations of withdrawal are made by all true religious paths which describe the process as knocking at the door.

Yin-yang (Black: Empty, White: Knowledge mind)

Once knowledge is let go as a defining or gainful aspect of personality, the mind objectifies it as a whole and not as individual pieces of information. Like a tool or object, you dip into to help you along rather than a bubble of belief for the brain to wallow in and make assumptions and assertions from. That would just be a platform of blinkered ignorance.

As you transcend knowledge, you'll notice how it is an equally weighted contributing factor of this separation in the first place. The initial prism with which knowledge is stored is like and dislike or in this case, belief and disbelief.
